First Match Of The Season
On Saturday 24th. April we were pleased to welcome Dowty Staverton Bowls Club to our green for our first friendly match of the season. We were again blessed with a sunny afternoon for our first competitive encounter this year. The green was in excellent condition and the enthusiasm of both teams was high.
In accordance with social distancing regulations and some health and safety rules Cotswold have put in place, each rink nominated someone to take charge of the ‘jack’ and the mat. Whilst these rules feel a little strange at first we all recognised the importance of them and were well disciplined throughout.
We limited the match to eighteen ends as it was the first of the season and we all needed time to build up our stamina. We also enjoyed tea and cakes after nine ends  (not to be recommended as a stamina builder – but very nice anyway) still obeying the self distancing requirements currently in force.
Cotswold claimed victory on all three rinks at the end of a very enjoyable afternoon.
And The Bad News is…………
Our planned ‘Open Weekend’ on 29th. May has to be postponed till later in the season. This is very disappointing and due to circumstances beyond our control.
This was planned to be part of Bowls England National promotion weekend and we had hoped to be participating, however, we will still have access to their promotional materials when we determine a new date for our own event in the not to distant future
