The Governments ‘covid pathway’ is advancing as planned which means our club can begin the process of getting things back to normal again. The next crucial date on the path to recovery is Monday, May 17th. when some important restrictions are to be eased. For our club this means we can now provide hospitality and catering facilities indoors. This will be good news for the indoor bowlers who enjoy their twice weekly ‘roll ups’ on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, which will also resume from the week beginning May 17th.
We will still maintain rules regarding social distancing and provide table service only to tables of no more than six people at any one time. For our outdoor evening matches we will now be able to open the bar and catering facilities.
It is at this time of year some of our hardworking volunteers start to plan for the end of the summer season and the start of the indoor season that begins in September. Our club handbook, which contains all the information about the leagues and fixtures for the winter season , is now being compiled in time for publication in September. Team captains from last seasons teams will need to contact their players to ensure they have teams for the new season, and then to inform the club about their intentions. The club is also pleased to assist club members who currently do not have a team, to contact us and we will put you in touch with teams who are looking for players, or assist in setting up new teams. There is clearly a lot of work required to put everything in place as soon as possible as all this information is required urgently.
We are disappointed not to be able to participate in Bowls England’s Big Weekend, at the end of May. However, we have rescheduled our Open Day event for Sunday 11th. July when we invite anyone who is interested in taking up the game for the first time, or coming back after a lay off to join us on the green. More details of the day will be published nearer the date as part of wider promotional campaign.
